As well as celebrating with the winners of the TCA Energizer Junior Bonspiel, we want to thank Heinz Schmidt for 20 years of helping to co-ordinate the Swiss -TCA exchange program. Heinz is moving on to the Swiss Men’s and Ladies’ Programs. His son, Stefan will assume responsibility for the Exchange Program.
Heinz became involved in 1986, near the beginning of the exchange program. Each year, he has organized wonderful experiences for the Canadian Juniors in Switzerland. In addition to curling in the annual international bonspiel, we have sledded down the mountains, curled
on open air rinks, attended hockey games, and toured historic and well known sights throughout the country. The curlers and chaperones have enjoyed the generous hospitality
offered by the Swiss curlers and their families.
The TCA Energizer Junior Bonspiel has become a major event of the junior curling season. Each year the bonspiel has a full complement of teams. Both Swiss and Canadian exchange participants have achieved world recognition – Glen Howard, Alison Goring, John Base, Kim Gellard, Wayne Middaugh, Michelle Pellegrin and John Morris to name a few.
Thanks Heinz for your outstanding dedication to Junior Curling.
