History

The Toronto & District Ladies’ Curling Championship began in 1959 largely due to the initiative of members of Unionville Curling Club. It was a 5-day event held at numerous clubs across Toronto, with a single club serving as host on Championship Day.

It was sponsored by O’Keefe Brewing Company from 1959-61. From 1962-75 it was lovingly cared for by volunteer club representatives. In 1976 North American Life Assurance Company became a valued patron for 13 years. The year 1989 was self managed with the T.C.A.’s help. Gay Lea Foods as the sponsor from 1990-2001.

In 2002, the Toronto Curling Association in partnership with Johnson Controls was pleased to bring the Energizer Curling Series to this event. In 2007, Revera Retirement Residences took over as main sponsor until 2009.  In 2011, the committee was pleased to welcome DelManor Seniors Community as the sponsor.
