Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket - over $14,000 was raised. The money will be used for development of junior curling at TCA Clubs.
The TCA thanks Goldline for their support of this junior curling development activity.
The TCA uses its portion of the proceeds for Lite Rock subsidies to the clubs, the Goldline Junior Curling League and other junior initiatives.
Objective
To generate revenue to support juvenile curling projects in the Toronto area, both at the club level and within the GTA.
Format The format for the lottery has changed. Ticket prices are now 1 for $5 and 3 for $10. There will now be four prizes offered:
First Prize: $2000 Second Prize: $1000 Third Prize: $300 Goldline Gift Certificate Fourth Prize: $100 Goldline Gift Certificate
With the new format, there is less administrative burden and more prizes.
Process
Lottery tickets are allocated to each TCA Club. Representatives are asked to canvas their membership to assist with sales. A letter is sent to all representatives detailing the project and their club's results in prior lottery efforts. All lottery tickets and monies are collected by TCA Executive members. A draw is held at the finals of the TCA Junior Bonspiel (December 30th) . Winners are advised and arrangements are made to award them their lottery prizes.
The Ontario Lottery Corporation regulations specify the proceeds from lotteries must be used for juvenile (18 yrs and under) programs. Please complete this letter confirming use of the proceeds at your club.
Revenue Sharing
This area is a major focus for the TCA. All monies collected from the lottery are divided back to the clubs in the following manner:
The TCA receives the first $120.00 raised by each participating club. This amount covers printing, prizes and lottery licence fees. In 2010, the total spent on these items was approximately $3,674. The increase represented the addition of a 4th prize of $2000. The remainder is split 50/50 between the TCA and the participating clubs.
The TCA has shared back the following dollar figures with its member clubs in the last 13 years:
This money goes directly back to the curling programs at our member clubs. This initiative allows member clubs to benefit directly from their participation in this development program. Municipal regulations decree that clubs who raise money through this program must spend the revenue on juvenile curling projects. A letter of intent on how to spend the funds must be submitted to the TCA.
