ABOUT

The TCA Mixed Bonspiel combines some great competition with lots of fun and socializing. There will be an open and senior event and everyone is guaranteed three games of curling.

Wednesday February 22, 2012

Games will be played at Annandale, Dixie, St. George’s, Scarboro, Toronto Cricket and Unionville

Thursday February 23,2012

Games will be played at Annandale, Bayview, Dixie, Scarboro and Thornhill

Saturday February 25,2012

Games at Scarboro will be 9 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. depending on event

Games at Granite will be 9 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. depending on the event

Sunday February 26,2012

Open Event Semi finals will be played at Scarboro at 9:45 a.m.  

 

Senior Finals and Open Fourth Event Semi finals will be played at Scarboro at noon   

 

Finals will be played at Scarboro at 3 p.m.

 

GALA DINNER AND DANCE AT SCARBORO GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS

FORMAT

Open & Senior Event 44 teams in the Open 28 teams in the Senior

  • 3 eight-end games guaranteed
  • Open Event: Games are win/loss
  • Senior Event: Games are win/loss

Every effort will be made to schedule east teams in the east and west teams in the west according to ice availability.

ELIGIBILTY

In the Open Event, each player must be a minimum of 19 years of age as of December 31,2011.

In the Senior Event, men must be a minimum of 50 years of age as of December 31,2011 and women must be a minimum of 45 years of age as of December 31,2011.

ENTRIES ACCEPTED UNTIL FEBRUARY 17, 2012

Entry fee: $274.00 a team.  You can pay by cheque or through the TCA's PayPal Account (accepts Visa & MasterCard).

  • Team members do not have to belong to the same club.
  • Spares may only play for one team during the course of the bonspiel.

The Canadian Curling Association rules shall apply except as provided in the rules document below.  Please read prior to entering the bonspiel.

HISTORY

Event records show that OfKeefe Breweries sponsored this competition from 1958 to 1966. Imperial Life then sponsored till 1984, with the Permanent from 1985 to 1987 and the Brick Brewing Company from 1988 to 2000. The Senior Event was started in 1975.

In 2001 Johnson Controls assumed sponsorship of this prestigious event until 2009. In 2010, the event will be sponsored by the TCA. The TCA Mixed Bonspiel attracts close to 300 curlers participating in a 44-team open event and a 28-team senior event.

In 2010 the Toronto Curling Association sponsored this prestigious event.  Since 2011, the TCA is pleased to welcome Delmanor Senior Communities as a partial sponsor of the event.
